Landlords in Hounslow who want to convert houses into multiple homes will now have to get planning permission from the council.

The new regulation concerns HMOs, or Houses of Multiple Occupancy, involving three to six tenants.

The council carried out a year long pilot before making the rule official this week.

It’s after community groups and residents’ associations claimed HMOs were leading to increased anti-social behaviour.
