Electricity Network Company LTD was found to have inadequate signs, cones and barriers during works in Trinity Crescent.
Jenny Yates, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “The carelessness of Electricity Network Company LTD posed a danger to the residents of Wandsworth. The outcome of this case sends a clear message that we will not tolerate companies taking risks in our borough and we will hold them firmly to account.”
Electricity Network Company LTD entered a guilty plea at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on 22 April 2025.
The court imposed a fine of £3,333 and ordered the company to pay a surcharge of £1,333.
They were also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £2,350. The total to be paid is £7,016.
Last year, Council Leader Simon Hogg wrote an open letter to Thames Water to express his frustration at works which took place on Wandsworth High Street.
Standing firmly on the side of residents, Simon Hogg said the works were “significantly impacting the daily lives of our residents, local businesses, and those who commute through Wandsworth” and called the extended delays “completely unacceptable given the serious effect they [were] having on the local economy and community life”.
