Actor Callum Turner, from Hammersmith, says he channelled golden age Hollywood star Gary Cooper in his latest big screen role.

The 33-year-old plays real-life rower Joe Rantz, who took part in the 1936 Olympics, in sports movie The Boys In The Boat.

The film was directed by George Clooney and filmed at Molesey Boat Club.

Callum says training for the part, which took around six months, wasn’t all plain sailing.
