Liz Green and Diane White were presented with illuminated scrolls at a special council meeting joining a long list of distinguished former councillors to receive the award.
The title of Honorary Alderman recognises individuals who have provided exceptional service during their tenure as elected officials.
Liz Green was honoured following 24 years of public service as a councillor. During her nearly two and a half decades as a member of the council, she served in almost every major leadership role, including Mayor, Leader of the Council, chair of numerous committees, and holder of multiple key portfolios.
Upon receiving the award, Green said:
“Thank you to the council for this honour, I am very proud to accept it.
“None of what matters can be done alone, so thanks to the officers I worked with, councillor colleagues across the chamber, and to the residents who trusted me to represent them.”
