The human rights watchdog says efforts to tackle violence by police against women and girls requires “urgent improvement”.

An inquiry, published last week, said Sarah Everard’s killer should never have allowed to serve as an officer.

The 33-year-old was kidnapped by then-serving officer, Wayne Couzens in Clapham; her body was later found in Kent.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission wants the government to do more to keep people safe.
