The successful candidate will be in charge of carbon reduction and offsetting initiatives.
Spelthorne says it has already achieved a number of its key objectives.
These include reducing energy in council buildings by 40%, going paperless and banning single use plastics.
The authority has also spent £1.2million making homes in the borough more energy efficient.
