School children in south London have been told to “buddy up” when travelling to and from school after a series of recent attacks.

Oasis Academy Shirley Park, in Croydon, said “a number” of students were assaulted as they made their way to school on Thursday.

One pupil was taken to hospital with a head injury following the attacks.

The warning comes months after Elianne Andam, 15, was stabbed to death in September after getting off a bus while she was on her way to school in Croydon.
