Croydon Council has announced it’s to review police reports and findings into historic mismanagement and failures of governance which led to the council’s financial collapse.
It follows a lengthy and detailed assessment by officers which found potential wrongdoing, breaches of statutory duty and incompetence, but only at the corporate level.
The council and Croydon’s executive mayor Jason Perry, say they’d like stronger powers to pursue individual wrongdoing.
Croydon Council was declared effectively bankrupt in 2020.
