Britain’s top officer says policing in England and Wales needs reform to keep pace with criminals using technology to their advantage.

Commissioner of the Metropolitan force, Sir Mark Rowley, is calling for the 43 separate forces to be combined into at most 10 regional ones.

He feels that will help tackle increasingly sophisticated crimes and cost less than modernising the current system.

Rowley previously served as Chief Constable of Surrey Police between 2008 and 2011.
