Less children in Richmond have been offered a place at their first preference secondary school this year.

The council says 65% have received their first choice compared with last year’s 68%.

But the authority says 87% of children in all have been offered a place at one of their top three secondary schools.

2,104 children applied for a place in total which is a slight rise on last year’s 2,086.
