26-year-old Joshua Hewson has been given a 20 week suspended sentence following the incident in March 2022.
He told an acquaintance he had been kidnapped and needed £300 or he’d be killed.
When police responded, Hewson appeared intoxicated and refused to give any information about the alleged kidnappers.
He was arrested on suspicion of wasting police time and blackmail.
