Kingston Council has been given more than £170,000 to help uncover the borough’s “diverse and hidden” histories.

The grant for the project is coming from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and will play a pivotal role in this year’s borough celebrations.

2025 marks the 1100th anniversary of the crowning of King Athelstan, the first King of a united England, in the heart of Kingston.

The project will focus on five key themes including migration, trade and decolonisation.
