Hounslow Council says it is to work with the police and use drones to identify, seize and crush vehicles belonging to fly-tippers.

The news comes following the Government’s “rapid review” which aims to slash the red tape which blocks councils from taking action.

Authorities currently bear the cost of seizing and storing vehicles, but the new plan is to transfer that cost to the fly tipper.

Those caught transporting and dealing with waste illegally will now face up to five years in prison under the new legislation.
