The brigade was called to a flat on Ferry Lane on Tuesday just after 9 o’clock in the morning.
Part of a four-roomed flat on the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire, while smoke affected the whole of the property.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a candle.
The brigade is warning to neve leave candles unattended.
