An 11-year-old girl’s become the first UK patient to receive new gene therapy that could treat a rare eye condition.

Catherine L’Estrange was diagnosed with Bardet-Bidel syndrome as a baby, and was expected to become blind by her early 20s.

Medics at St Helier Hospital in Sutton are hoping their world-first procedure could stop this process.
