The blaze broke out in Weir Road on Saturday afternoon and around 80 tonnes of household waste was involved.
Firefighters say lithium-ion batteries should not be placed in the same bins as regular rubbish or recycling.
Instead, we’re being told to check with the retailer or on our council website about how to dispose of them.
