The estate, in Addington Road, dates back over 1,000 years and has historic associations with King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I.
It was bought by AB Boutique Hotels earlier this year after standing vacant since 2023.
They want to turn it into a “luxury hotel destination.”
The approved scheme focuses on restoring windows, including stained glass and decorative leaded windows which we’re told will preserve its historic features, enhance energy efficiency and help safeguard the future of the building.

The applicant anticipates that the hotel and leisure facilities could reopen in summer 2027 for visitors and members of the public. The spa is likely to open towards the end of 2027.
