It had been said that the White Paper on English Devolution could be published by the end of the month, which is tomorrow.
The Times has reported ten areas would be in the first wave of reorganisation, including Surrey, Norfolk and Suffolk.
According to the Times, these regions would have their district councils replaced with larger units with populations of at least 500,000 people.
Surrey County Council’s leader, Tim Oliver says;
“We await the government White Paper on Devolution, and will of course engage with government on all options that could benefit Surrey and its residents.”
