Women who have a caesarean section at an advanced stage of labour are eight times more likely to experience premature births in future pregnancies.

Research from University College London found this is due to scars in the womb.

Anna David, who previously worked at the Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital, is an obstetrician and one of the researchers.
