The council took the companies to court citing four separate incidents last October and November.
They included barriers around a work site being left open, exposed cables and footpaths closed without an alternative for pedestrians.
This follows on from last week’s prosecution of Thames Water who were fined over £24,000 for carrying out unsafe works in the borough.
