Two police forces have been given an “inadequate” grading in areas of working with the public.

Surrey Police has been criticised for answering 999 calls too slowly.

Only 77% are being picked up within ten seconds which is below the national target of 90%.

Meanwhile, a police and fire services watchdog says Thames Valley is failing to protect vulnerable people, with a lack of staff at safeguarding hubs.
