Twickenham’s MP has presented a petition in Parliament calling for Thames Water’s sewage recycling proposals to be scrapped.

The £250 million proposed scheme would involve abstracting water from the Thames at Teddington in times of drought.

The water would be replaced with treated sewage from the nearby Mogden sewage treatment works via a new tunnel.

700 people have signed the petition against the plans, created by Lib Dem Munira Wilson.

Thames Water’s consultation on the plans ended on Monday.
