SWR was the first train operating company to enter public control kick starting the end of almost 30 years of privatisation.
Bosses say the number of seats and space on board suburban services into Waterloo has increased by 27% as a result.
It’s higher for places like Shepperton at 32% and Hampton Court at 28%.
However, it’s not all good news.
SWR had to apologise to customers after the brand new fleet of Arterio trains due to roll out in 2019 were held up.
Wimbledon’s MP claimed £5.5 million was being “wasted” monthly on the new trains that still weren’t all in use by June last year.
At the time, South Western Railway said it was training up more staff to drive them.
