The Met Police is expanding its use of static live facial recognition cameras to London’s West End and Soho.

The devices have been piloted in Croydon since October and have seen 173 people arrested during that time.

The cameras will be attached to street furniture and monitored remotely.

The latest ones will be deployed by the end of the year.
