The Leader of the Liberal Democrats and MP for Kingston and Surbiton, Sir Ed Davey, has called for energy bills to be frozen.

Its after Ofgem announced last week that the energy cap will rise to £1,738 a year in January, despite a previous 10% rise in October.

Sir Ed also asked the Prime Minister, Sir Kier Starmer, to ‘reconsider and restore winter fuel payments.’

The Prime Minister said energy bills are cheaper this year than they were last, and that working towards clean power by 2030 will drive bills down on a permanent basis.
