Surrey’s Chief Fire Officer is reassuring residents who are concerned by the proposed closure of Banstead Fire Station.

The service says the site in the High Street is not fit for purpose.

The average first response time to critical incidents by Surrey Fire and Rescue is currently less than 10 minutes.

Dan Quin says if Banstead closes, it doesn’t mean those attendance times will go up.
