Officers were called at around 8pm after reports that a woman or girl had been put into a silver car on First Avenue.
The car, which is believed to be a silver Volkswagen Polo, was then driven off in the direction of Garden Road
It is not clear whether the person was put in the car against her will, and the police are working to establish the exact circumstances.
