Surrey County Council is to lift charges on the amount of DIY waste residents can get rid of at recycling centres from Friday.

The move is in line with Government policy changes that were proposed in June.

The County Council currently charges for all rubble and plasterboard to be disposed of but some fees will be lifted.

A new monitoring system will be introduced using the automatic number plate recognition system to monitor usage.
