Robotic kites developed by the University of Surrey will soon be flying above us to monitor greenhouse gas emissions.

It’s been made possible thanks to a £620,000 grant from UKRI’s Natural Environment Research Council, Defra and Innovate UK.
New lightweight wireless gas sensors will be attached to helium kites and flown by an autonomous robots.
The robot balloon towers, kitted out with sensors, will replace the previous use of drones to monitor gas flux.
