It’s following the deaths of a number of people, including children, in open water across the UK over recent days.

The Thames at Ham has just been designated an official bathing water site with hundreds of people flocking to it during the hot weather.

Richmond Council says swimmers need to be aware of currents, cold water shock and submerged objects.

They should also avoid jumping from bridges and respect the area’s wildlife.
