People in Surrey are being urged to take up free NHS lung checks, which have already found more than 500 cancers across the region

The health service says more than three-quarters of those cancers were caught early, when they can be easier to treat.

The checks are offered to 55 to 74-year-olds who smoke or used to smoke, even if they feel fit and well.

Those at higher risk can then have a quick scan at a community site.
