Statement from SES on situation at Cheam Water Treatment Works.
“We are pleased to confirm that most supplies should now be back to normal. Some customers in high rise buildings in the Sutton area may experience lower than usual water pressure as the network recharges, we expect pressures to return to normal later this evening.
The following bottled water stations will remain open until 10pm this evening, as planned:
Cheam Library, Church Rd, Sutton SM3 8QH. Access via Park Rd.
Upper High Street Car Park KT17 4DU. Access via Upper High Street main road.
Westcroft Leisure Centre, along Westcroft Rd in Carshalton, SM5 2TG.
St Paul’s Church, 15 Northey Avenue, Cheam SM2 7HS.
We will continue to monitor things closely and evaluate whether bottled water stations are still required. We will provide an update on this tomorrow.
Due to the nature of this incident, some customers may notice a change in the hardness of the water they are receiving, for example increased limescale or a film on hot drinks such as cups of tea.
These areas are: Sutton, Cheam, Worcester Park, Ewell, Morden, Carshalton, Carshalton Beeches, Wallington, Chipstead, Banstead, Burgh Heath, Kingswood, Tadworth.
The increased water hardness is of no concern and the water can be consumed and used as normal.”
