That’s according to Twickenham based RFU which says it marks a major boost for the future of the game.

The surge spans state schools, colleges, and youth organisations including Scouts and Guides.

The RFU has committed £120 million over four years to 2030 to strengthen the grassroots game.

The governing body is also hoping to expand operations at Twickenham Stadium by holding 15 non-sporting events annually.
