Merton Council has officially launched its bid to be come London’s Borough of Culture 2027.

The authority is already aiming to become London’s first Borough of Sport and says this will be a key feature of the proposal.

The Mayor’s “London Borough of Culture award” was launched in 2017 with the aim of promoting individual boroughs.

Croydon currently holds the accolade and has benefitted from a year of events celebrating it.
