It’s emerged Sutton Council was one of the winners in the Lord Mayor of London’s New Year’s Day parade competition.

The London Borough Competition marks the start of the annual event on New Year’s Day.

Sutton’s float, Pushes the Boat Out, was built by a group of volunteers of the Gary Mason Charity and Sutton St John Ambulance.

The £10,000 awarded will be split between the Mayor of Sutton’s charities, which this year are Home Start Sutton and Parkinsons UK.
