Hundreds of firefighters and control staff will stage a protest in Westminster this lunchtime over the impact of a lack of cash on services.

The Fire Brigades Union, based in Norbiton, says one in five jobs has been lost over the past 13 years.

It says this is a result of funding cuts, which have led to record high response times.

Ministers insist crews in England will get two-point-six billion pounds this year – and it’s for authorities to manage resources.
