Households in Croydon typically turn their heating back on around September the 26th, according to new Uswitch data.

It comes as the energy price cap rises by 4% tomorrow, taking the typical annual bill from £1,663 to £1,723.

Uswitch says some households are already using more energy before the higher rates come into force.

It’s encouraging people to take a meter reading before tomorrow, so usage before and after the price change is recorded accurately.
