Heavier fines are going to be handed out to fly-tippers in Richmond.

It’s after the government increased the maximum penalty authorities could implement from £400 to £1,000.

Richmond Council says it is bringing in the highest rate possible for people caught breaking the law in this way.

There’s been an increase in fly-tipping cases in the borough over the last three years from 1,336 incidents to 1,620 last year.
