Hanworth Police have issued a warning to residents that they have received an increased number of burglary reports recently.

They say burglars will use a variety of ways to avoid being noticed – they either don’t want to be seen or heard, or they will distract you.

Simple things such as keeping fences low so they have nowhere to hide, or having gravel paths and driveways so you will hear someone approach your home, can keep burglars away.

If someone knocks at your door and you are not convinced they are who they say they are, always remember “if in doubt, keep them out”
