Former world tennis number one Simona Halep has had her four-year ban for doping reduced from four years to nine months.

It means the two-time Grand Slam champion can return to competitive action immediately.

The 32-year-old Romainian, who has won Wimbledon and the French Open, tested positive for a blood-boosting drug in 2022 and was suspended from the sport last September.
