It happened on Sunday night at the rear of a nine-storey building on Uxbridge Road.
No one was harmed and the fire was thought to have started accidentally as a result of a dropped cigarette.
Five fire engines and around 30 personnel attended the scene.
The blaze was extinguished with only a small part of the building’s cladding damaged by heat.
