Doctors are being told to be on high alert for measles as vaccine rates among young children have dipped to a 10-year low.

Latest figures show only 84.5% have received a second shot of the MMR jab by the time they’re 5, which is the lowest level since 2011.

Dr Nick Merrifield is the lead GP at Holmwood Corner Surgery in New Malden.

He says there’s a few reasons why take-up of the MMR vaccine has fallen.
