Croydon Council has agreed a private healthcare group can take over the running of three of its care homes.

Eleanor Healthcare Group, which will run properties in Selhurst, New Addington and Selsdon, says it will provide 150 care beds.

More beds will also be made available for people needing short-term care and rehabilitation before going home.

The council says this will improve care and reduce pressure on the NHS and social services.
