Experts stress it’s not a cure and say the £2.5 million clinical trial is carried out under medical supervision and is in its early stages.

Funding for the trial is coming from the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation.

Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, from Fulham, died in 2016 after suffering a severe allergic reaction to sesame baked into a Pret baguette.

Five NHS hospitals are involved so far, including the University Hospital of Southampton where Professor Hasan Arshad works.
