Thousands of volunteers are collecting donations at around 50 stations for serving and former Armed Forces personnel and their families.
Last year’s appeal raised more than £1.4 million, with organisers hoping to beat that total this year.
Poppy-themed buses, trains and cable cars are also marking the anniversary.
