As part of Exercise Night Star, RAF Typhoon jets were scrambled from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire to escort a passenger aircraft to Heathrow.
The Met police, along with Heathrow Airport Limited and Royal Air Force personnel also took part.
The exercise is designed to test the skills of police officers and staff from different units in case of an actual aircraft hijack.
