The first closure will be between Junctions 9 for Leatherhead and 10 for Wisley tonight and tomorrow evening, going clockwise.
The footbridge is part of a £317m upgrade to Junction 10.
Jonathan Wade, who is the National Highways senior project manager described the scheme as “vital” to help the 300,000 drivers a day who use the junction.
