Police were called to reports a man in his 50s was suffering from head injuries at a house in Basden Grove just after 8 on Saturday morning.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm yesterday and remains in custody.
The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
