It is believed that the victim in his 20s was attacked in an alleyway between the Exquisique Nail Salon and Black Burgers.
The incident happened sometime between 3 and 4am on Sunday morning.
He sustained serious injuries to his head and face.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw people by the alleyway near Station Approach around that time to contact them.
