A group of female screenwriters have told the BBC they’re ‘shocked’ a drama about the rape and murder of Sarah Everard’s being written by a man.

She was killed by off-duty police officer Wayne Couzens in March 2021 after being abducted from a road near Clapham Common.

Writer Jeff Pope says he approaches every subject with ‘sensitivity, respect and meticulous research’, a statement echoed by the BBC.
